The History of BTSS
The BTSS is an organisation made up of over 300 trainee solicitors, paralegals, newly qualified solicitors and post-graduate law students from across Birmingham and the West Midlands. Originally an off-shoot of the Birmingham Law Society, the BTSS has been operating for 173 years and remains as active as ever.
We are an organisation that looks after our members by providing opportunities to network as well as training to enhance professional skills and a collective body to promote the interests of our members in the legal community.
Each month the BTSS hosts a range of social, sporting, cultural and charitable events with the aim of bringing young lawyers together and raising their profile across the city and beyond. We are proud to provide a breadth of opportunities to develop and cultivate contacts in the legal community and other professional groups through networking. We assist our members in forging links with other professionals through our relationships with the Birmingham Law Society, the Junior Lawyers Division, Birmingham Future, Birmingham Forward, the Accountants’ Group and RICS, to name a few.
The Society is keen to also promote corporate social responsibility so that our members may make a positive and lasting impact in the local community. We also know how to let our members enjoy the more social and informal networking scene, and we regularly arrange exciting and varied events to celebrate and reward our members for successes and achievements throughout the year.
